Roopali Singh

LOMBARD, IL

Roopali was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago where she started dancing at the age of 7. She started at Kalashree Dance Academy and learned the art of Bharatnatyam, a traditional South Indian dance form, for about 8 years before she completed her graduation ceremony, known as an Arangetram in 2003. She has continued to learn and teach under her guru ever since. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in 2010. During her time at UIUC she danced on both the fusion team and the raas team her freshman year and then continued on as a board member, choreographer and dancer on the fusion team for her remaining 3 years. In the years following graduation, she moved to a number of different places for work including Kentucky, South Carolina and Ohio. While in these new places, she couldn't live without dancing so she tried out for some local dance teams! In South Carolina she danced on USC Moksha for one year and in Ohio she danced with Akron Bhangra and Case Western Bhangra for one year. She also discovered a passion for pole fitness while in Ohio and eventually taught for a couple of years before finally coming home to Chicago.

While she still teaches Bharatnatyam every week, she wanted to try something that was really going to get her moving and so she decided to try her first BollyX workout and fell in love with the music, moves, and fantastic feeling she got from it. Not to mention the amazing workout she got! At that moment, she decided to become a certified instructor so that she could share what she felt with others. She can't wait for you to join one of her classes when she's all set up and ready to go! More info to come!
