Minal Mehta
Minal has been immersed in the world of dance and fitness since childhood, splitting her time between the dance studio and the swimming pool. Cast as the lead dancer of community Bollywood dance competitions starting the age of 10, she grew up with a passion to perform and a love for the stage. Throughout high school and college, Minal trained in acting and in various dance styles, including Kathak (a North Indian classical dance form), Indian folk dances, and jazz. She also choreographed Bollywood and Indian folk dance productions every year, leading her collegiate Bollywood dance company to sweep all national intercollegiate competitions in 2005. Outside of dancing, Minal’s other performance credits include writing and performing her own song for South Asian Sister’s yearly production “Yoni Ki Baat” in 2007 and being a part of the HBS a capella group “SHE-E-O.” In the fitness world, Minal was a competitive synchronized swimmer for 8 years, played coed water polo and swam with her high school varsity team. Minal values the power of community that both the sports and performance spaces cultivate and strives to build a vibrant and active community with BollyX.
Minal graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in Economics with Honors in 2005 and earned her M.B.A. in general management from Harvard Business School in 2011. Prior to BollyX, Minal managed online marketing for Amazon’s fashion startup, MYHABIT, driving customer acquisition through the paid marketing channels, owning forecasting and planning, managing new product launches, and spearheading customer analytics initiatives. Having joined the team when the business was three months old, Minal experienced growing the business to millions of members worldwide within a year. In addition to her experience at Amazon, Minal brings extensive marketing, business development, and analytics experience from her past lives at NBC Universal, Hotwire and Cornerstone Research.
