Mayuri Bhandari

Mayuri is the Co-Founder and former Creative Director of BollyX. She is a dynamic performer, actress, dancer, figure skater, yoga practitioner, poet, and activist.

She was introduced to Bollywood by being one of the top finalists of Just Dance in 2011 with Hrithik Roshan and Dare 2 Dance with Akshay Kumar in 2014. She has performed for LIFE OK, Star Plus, and Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Her dance background spans from traditional and folk Indian styles to forms from various regions: modern, contemporary, lyrical, Afro-Brazilian, salsa, hip hop, and more. She has performed with and choreographed for over 8 dance companies in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Mumbai, including UC Berkeley’s collegiate team UC Berkeley AZAAD (National winners 2011).

Mayuri is also a National Figure Skating Champion of India (2008) and winner of Miss India Global (2015). She has done commercials with Toyota, Fabletics, Remax, Tea India, and Star Plus.

Mayuri has been a pioneer in merging the worlds of Bollywood and fitness. Her fitness classes began at UC Berkeley, where she had nearly 150 students attend per class. Having taught various dance and fitness classes at studios in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Boston, she has built a strong foundation in motivating and bringing out the best in people. In 2012, she founded MOKSHA…Liberation through Movement – a non-profit organization in a rural areas of Maharashtra, India that engages blind, deaf, physically and mentally challenged children with dance and movement therapy.

Mayuri graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Dance Performance and a minor in South Asian Studies in 2012. She has received various Dance and Leadership scholarships and awards from UC Berkeley and Santa Monica College, including the prestigious Judith Stronach Fellowship. Alongside performing, Mayuri is currently attaining her M.A. in Yoga Studies and teaching at Loyola Marymount University in LA.
